Job Interviews

10 Tips for successful in Job Interviews

The following tips will help a job seeker prepare for job interviews and increase their chances of getting the job.

1. Resume Review

An updated review is inevitable for job interviews. The interviewee should be aware of what his or her resume contains. Going through the resume once or twice makes the candidate well versed with their accomplishments, strengths, and weaknesses. This helps in giving a prompt and smart reply to questions.

Power Dressing

Formal dressing never goes wrong during job interviews. Even if the work atmosphere is casual, the interviewee should be dressed neatly and like a professional. A classic suit is best for job interviews. J ewelry perfumes and make-up should be minimal. Revealing clothes are a strict no.

Name of Interviewer

Nothing can be more embarrassing than pronouncing the name of the interviewer incorrectly or completely forgetting it. The candidate who is not agile enough to grasp the name of his or her interviewer can have a hard time getting a job. When the job interview gets over, asking for a business card from everyone in the room is a smart idea. This gives the interviewee vital details for sending thank-you letters later.

The Handshake

Handshake speaks a lot about personality. Firm handshake is what is desired in job interviews. It spells confidence. The bone-crushing grip or the loose grip can make the interviewer mentally reject the candidate, even before the interview starts. Eye contact with the interviewer is necessary. However, one should be careful not to transform it into a stare.

Body Language

A candidate who sits straight and maintains appropriate eye contact throughout job interviews has higher chances of grabbing the job than a candidate who slumps in their chair, appearing nervous, or chewing gum.

Deportment

The candidate's deportment in the parking lot, lobby, elevator, with the receptionist, and anyone who he or she meets at the company may directly or indirectly have an influence in getting or missing the job.

Answers to Questions

They should be short and precise. Long answers hardly make an impression during job interviews. Too long a silence on the part of the interviewee might ring a warning bell. Moreover, the interviewee should take care not to throw irrelevant comments, simply to break the silence during job interviews. In case of finding it difficult to form an answer to a question, waiting for a few seconds is wise. The use of "well","err…", and"uh" seems fine. The thumb rule is to think before answering and not just blurt out.

Salary Speak

A smart interviewee would never bring up the matter of salary, unless asked by the interviewer. It is more appreciable to talk about one's qualities that make one a suitable candidate for the job.

Rehearse

Carrying out mock job interviews boost confidence and prepare the candidate well for job interviews.

Arrive Early

The tenth tip is to arrive a few minutes early. It shows candidate's credibility and organized nature, which are the keys to getting a job.
